In Tucson, shade decides whether a backyard gets used from May to September. A steel frame with a metal roof can turn bare concrete into an outdoor room. One customer wrote that the temperature under her new awning immediately dropped 10 degrees.
Shade structures we build
- Back porches and awnings on steel posts, welded and built on site.
- Carports and patio covers with corrugated metal roofs, some with scroll brackets.
- Carports closed in with a pair of steel gates across the front.
- Long shade roofs for barns and horse property, like the one over this wash rack.
- Pergolas with circle cut steel roof panels and matching steel planters.

Built for monsoon wind
A flat metal roof catches wind like a sail when a monsoon storm rolls through. The posts, the beams and the welds between them have to be sized for that, and the roof has to shed a summer downpour. Daniel works through post spacing and roof pitch before he bids, so the cover still looks square after its first storm season.
“It feels custom and highend and turned my concrete backyard into a usable room for the summer.”
Pathways Paralegal & Mediation, Google review
“The stable roof looks incredibly sharp, durable, and built to handle the elements perfectly.”

Ranch and horse property
Steel roofs over stables and wash racks are part of the work too. A customer hired Daniel for an iron roof installation on a horse stable and wrote that it was built to handle the elements perfectly.
Questions about porches & carports
Does a cover attach to the house or stand on its own?
Both are possible. Which one fits depends on the roofline and the wall, and Daniel works it out on the site visit.
What goes on top?
Most of the covers in our photos use corrugated metal roofing on a steel frame. The pergola uses steel panels with circles cut out, which throws a dappled shade.
