Marana stretches northwest along I-10 and the Santa Cruz River, from Continental Ranch and Twin Peaks out toward the Tortolita Mountains and Dove Mountain. From our shop on East 36th Street in Tucson it is about 25 minutes up the interstate to the Continental Ranch area.
What we build in Marana
Marana mixes newer subdivisions with farm ground and acreage, and the steel work follows. On bigger lots we build double drive gates for trucks and trailers, rolling gates where a long drive meets the road, and corrugated steel fences that close in a yard. In the subdivisions it is more often security doors, glass entry doors, side yard gates and patio covers. Balconies, railings and custom welding round it out.
Around Continental Ranch, Twin Peaks and Gladden Farms most homes are stucco behind block walls, and many sit inside an HOA with rules on color. Bring those rules to the first visit, and the gate or security door gets drawn to fit them before any steel is cut.
Horse property and open ground
Parts of Marana are horse country, with barns, arenas and long runs of fence. A steel shade roof over a barn aisle or wash rack is the kind of job we know, like the one pictured on this page. One customer hired Daniel for an iron roof on a horse stable and wrote that it was built to handle the elements perfectly.
Open ground also means wind. Gates on wide openings take a beating when a monsoon storm comes across the flats, so the posts, hinges and drop rods have to be sized for a big leaf. That gets worked out when Daniel measures, before anything is cut.
Questions from Marana homeowners
Can you build a gate wide enough for a trailer?
Yes. Double drive gates are built to the width of the opening, with a drop rod to hold the fixed leaf and hinges sized for the weight.
Do you build shade for horses?
Yes. We have built a long steel shade roof over a horse barn wash rack, and a customer hired Daniel for an iron roof on a horse stable.
